Head rush-inducing” Gorilla Super Tobacco becoming popular, police can’t arrest users
You may have heard of (or even tried) “Tembakau Super Cap Gorilla” (Gorilla Super Tobacco) that is all the rave lately.
The police believe that the tobacco, which supposedly gives its smoker a head rush, is spreading throughout South Jakarta.
Despite its alleged narcotics-like effects, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) hasn’t placed the tobacco on their dangerous substances life
As such, the police have no legal ground to arrest anyone consuming the great ape-themed tobacco.
“We arrested one user of the Gorilla Super Tobacco, but after he did a urine test, it wasn’t proven that [the tobacco] contained THC or other chemicals. So he’s just being rehabilitated,” said Hando Wibowo, head of the Narcotics Unit at the South Jakarta Police, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
Despite not being listed as an illegal drug, Hando confirmed that the tobacco does indeed have narcotic-like effects.
“The police have tested the tobacco and the effect was that it gave a head rush,” he said.
